LAW6 679 - Intellectual Property: Patent Enforcement

This course will focus on the practical aspects of patent litigation in federal courts, supported by weekly discussion of relevant case law. Students will participate as members of a trial team in a mock patent litigation, concentrating only on pre-trial aspects of the case. The mock litigation will take the class from the initial pleadings through pre-trial preparation. Students will be asked to draft short pleadings and other documents, work as members of a team, think strategically, and argue motions. By providing the context in which to discuss tactical considerations applicable to all civil litigation, students will explore the intersection of the conceptual and practical aspects of modern patent litigation.

Prerequisites & Notes
