LAW6 614 - Airline Industry and Aviation Law

What is the future of the U.S. air transportation industry? This course presents an introduction to legal/regulatory and policy issues confronting the domestic and international airline industry. We will look at how business responds to legal demands, and how business needs can shape legislation and government policies using the dynamic and highly capitalized aviation industry as a focal point. Attention also will be given to key current issues such as airline bankruptcies, who should pay the billions of dollars needed to modernize the air traffic control system, who should pay for air transportation security, whether the U.S. should permit foreign control of domestic airlines, and other similarly timely topics.
