ENSP 880 - Modern Poetry and Visual Art


Investigates what painting, sculpture and architecture have meant to poets of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, with discussion of their poetry in relation to the aesthetics of the visual arts, art history, and art criticism. Readings from Keats, Rossetti, Gautier, Rilke, Stevens, Prevert, Quasimodo, Williams, Jarrell, Wilbur and others—illuminating the experience of works by such artists as Donatello, Botticelli, Brueghel, Michelangelo, Delacroix, Degas, and Picasso.
