SWAG 435 - Gender and the Public Sphere


What is the significance of public deliberation in modern politics? What is the role of women in public life? How does the gendered nature of the public sphere shape the potential for the emergence of a truly democratic politics? We address these questions by examining the relationship between gender and the public sphere in theory as well as in historical and contempory contexts.
