ISSS 320 - British History

This course examines the history of England from around 1830 through the present, considering social class structure, the impact of the Industrial Revolution on work and family, women’s roles, political developments such as the evolution of democracy and the endurance of monarchy, intellectual and cultural trends, and attitudes towards empire. Some attention is devoted to Scotland, Wales, and Ireland during this period. (IR)
