STAT 518 - Design and Analysis of Sample Surveys

Discussion of the main designs and estimation techniques used in sample surveys: simple random sampling, stratification, cluster sampling, double sampling, post-stratification, ratio estimation. Non-response problems and measurement errors will also be discussed. Many properties of sample surveys will be developed through simulation procedures. The SUDAAN software package for analyzing sample surveys will be used. This course may not be used for graduate degrees in the Department of Statistics. Students who have received credit for STAT 313 may not take STAT 520 for credit; this course may not be used for graduate degrees in the Department of Statistics. (O)

Prerequisite: STAT 112 or MATH 312, and graduate standing or instructor permission.
