SPAN 531 - Hispanic Sociolinguistics

Studies the theoretical aspects of conversational analysis, incorporating it into the analysis of natural talk. Emphasizes the organization of conversations, the role of sociocultural background knowledge and preferred rules of politeness, and cross-cultural and cross-gender differences. (SI)
