HIEU 376 - Homosexuality and Society in the Modern Western World Offers a unique perspective on the emergence of a distinct subculture (more recently of a reform movement) within Western society, and on the response—usually hostile, often savagely repressive—of society at large to that subculture. Emphasizes that tense relationship and the light it throws on many facets of cultural, social, and political history in Europe and the United States. (IR)
