CHIN 100 - Introduction to Chinese Language and Culture

This is a four-credit First Year Mandarin Chinese course for high school students only which enables them to master the following skills: (1) facility with Hanyu Pinyin, the Chinese system of transliteration, in order to record Mandarin Chinese sounds for long term acquisition and perform internet searches in Chinese; (2) the ability to conduct basic conversations about family, hobbies, occupation and school life; (3) the ability to function in the contexts of visiting friends, making appointments, and shopping.
